Empowering Kalash Women: KVDA and Alkhidmat Foundation Revitalize Women’s Sewing Centre in Anish, Bumburat

The Kalash Valleys Development Authority (KVDA), in collaboration with the Alkhidmat Foundation, is taking a major step toward women’s empowerment in the heart of Bumburate. Work is underway to make the existing Women’s Sewing Centre in Anish fully functional, turning it into a vibrant space for skills training and livelihood generation.

The planning phase is nearing completion, and women-centric training programs will begin soon. The centre will provide practical learning opportunities in sewing, embroidery, and handicraft production—skills deeply connected to the Kalash community’s cultural heritage and economic resilience.

This initiative is designed not only to create sustainable income opportunities but also to foster self-reliance and confidence among local women. By linking traditional craftsmanship with modern market access, the project will open new pathways for women to participate in the region’s economic growth while preserving their cultural identity.

Through partnerships like this, KVDA continues to promote inclusive, community-based development across the Kalash Valleys—ensuring that progress uplifts everyone, especially those whose voices matter most.
