Dewadur (Malosh):

These are the holy sites of kalash Community, located on the outskirts of villages, where sacrifices are offered to Dizaw (God). These places serve as key spiritual centers for the Kalasha people. These Malosh locations are located in villages: Batrik, Karakal, Birir, Rumbur, and Gromun.

Jastak Khan:

The skylight opening in the ceiling of the Jestak Khan is the place where a mythological iron pillar connects heaven and the underworld. It is the place where death ceremonies of kalash community, are performed. Its doorway is always on the impure downhill, valley side, below the mountain above.

Bashali:

A secluded house designated for kalasha women during menstruation and childbirth. There are located near watercourses in each village, these spaces are off-limits to men, emphasizing their role in maintaining the community’s concept of purity and impurity.

Mand’awjaw (Madokjal):

This is the Kalash graveyard. Traditionally, the deceased were placed in wooden boxes left in the open air.  However, during recent years, the Kalasha have begun buying the coffins, marking a shift in their burial customs.

Pal’awjaw (Charsu):

A communal festival ground, where all Kalasha tribes come together to celebrate festivals and perform traditional rituals.
