Approval of Hazard Profile atlas of Kalash valleys

Kalash Valley takes the lead once again as the Kalash Valleys Development Authority (KVDA), in collaboration with the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH), has completed a comprehensive Hazard Profile Atlas for every village of Bumburait, Rumbur, and Birir. This unique and detailed study identifies the natural disaster risks specific to each community and outlines strategic measures to reduce vulnerabilities and enhance safety. The KVDA Board has formally approved the Hazard Profile Atlas for the Kalash Valleys, and implementation of the recommended strategies has already begun to strengthen community resilience against disasters and the adverse impacts of climate change. In addition, KVDA is planning a Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) model in each valley to ensure that local communities are fully prepared and equipped to respond effectively to climatic and natural emergencies. Working together with the community and relevant departments, KVDA remains fully committed to making the Kalash Valleys a resilient, safe, and better-prepared region against future hazards.
